Research in the Centre for Women's Studies and Gender Research

The Centre for Women's Studies and Gender Research at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia was established in 1987 and is based in the School of Political and Social Inquiry in the Faculty of Arts at Monash University's Clayton Campus. Centre Staff pursue active research programs focused on gender, sex and power with keen interests in women in higher education, gender and addiction, sexuality, feminist literary studies and women's employment [see project page]. The Centre has a strong postgraduate program with students pursuing a variety of research topics.

We foster an active research environment through conferences, symposia, workshops and other collaborative activities. Each year, we host distinguished colleagues from many other countries and institutions. We welcome opportunities for collaboration in our research areas; please contact the Centre Director, Dr JaneMaree Maher for further information.
