Application Process

For Current Monash Students

1) Confirm that you are eligible to participate and the units will fit into your course structure. All students can contact the Arts Prato Coordinator for course advice. Non arts students will need to get confirmation from their home faculty.

2) Complete the Monash Abroad application. The form also indicates that you need to attach the following:
a) Pay Application fee and record receipt of your payment 
b) a copy of your passport information page
c) a copy of your travel insurance
d) a copy of the front page of your bank statement (to show your account details that your grant and/or loan will be paid into)
e) Optional - your completed OS Help loan application 

3) Hand in your completed application to the Arts Prato Coordinator to be signed off and enrolled.  You will receive an email confirmation of this step and your application will be forwarded to Monash Abroad for final processing for the Monash grant and, if applied for, the OS Help loan. 

For students wanting to also complete some Law units in Prato, can you please indicate this on the Application form. We will liaise with the Law faculty and merge your two applications for both programs to submit to Monash Abroad together. This means you will only have to provide one copy of your bank statement, passport information page and insurance, between us. See the Law at Prato web site for further details. 

Applicants new to Monash

Our programs are also available to students not enrolled in a degree at Monash University. The following study options are available:

Cross Institutional Study - complete the application process as listed above for current Monash students and the application to take Cross institutional study
Single Subjects - complete the application process as listed above for current Monash students and the application to take Single subjects

Fees and Funding

Fees

Tuition Fees
Monash University students will be charged either full-fee or CSP according to their verified funding status. This applies to core and elective units.

Prato Criminology Program Application Fee - AUD$450.00
Students are required to pay this one off fee prior to submission of the application form. You must include your receipt number on your application form. A full refund of the application fee will be made in the case of ineligibility to enrol in the unit(s).

A full refund of the application fee will be made in the case of ineligibility to enrol in the unit(s). However, Hotel refund policies are different in Italy and, a full refund of Hotel fees may not be available if you do not cancel in time.

Funding
Financial assistance is available to current Monash students only.

Monash Abroad Funding
Most Monash students who participate in short term international study programs receive Monash Abroad travel grants from the University. Many are also eligible for a range of other loans, scholarships and grants.

University Financial Aid
The university will loan students up to $3000.00 through Financial Aid. The loan must be paid back by the time you graduate and carries no interest for the first 12 months. Contact Health, Wellbeing and Development Student Financial Aid Service on (03) 9905 3156 for further information and to arrange an appointment to see a Student Advisor about a loan.

OS-HELP Loan 
You may also wish to use OS-HELP introduced by the government, where you may be eligible for financial assistance in the form of a loan towards your Arts overseas study program. Please ensure you meet all the eligibility requirements including the conditions of the loan as outlined in the OS-HELP Brochure on this website before applying.

Centrelink Letters
The program is considered a Monash University course and therefore full time students may continue to receive payments. An enrolment verification letter can be requested from Monash Student Services Centre.

Accommodation

Shared accommodation can be arranged for students enrolling into Arts Prato units. The standard package provides a 15 night stay (arriving on Wednesday 21 March and departing Thursday 5 April) at AUD$45 per person per night (includes cleaning and utilities). Please note, we can also arrange for extra nights for you. Students wanting to stay on to complete Law elective units may want to consider this option. Contact the Program Coordinator for further information.

Students are required to pay their accommodation deposit on line via Master or Visa cards. Your receipt number is required for recording purposes. Please forward this to the Program Coordinator Cathy O'Brien

Pay for Accommodation

Prato Accommodation 2012 - Criminology - Deposit AUD$275.00 - (First Semester program 2012)

This is due with the submission of the application form. We recommend that students submit their applications earlier as places are limited.

Prato Accommodation 2012 - Criminology - Balance AUD$400.00 – (First Semester program 2012)

This is due by 27 January 2012 or earlier.

You will receive an email confirming your enrolment and application status and will be advised of the accommodation details and allocations accordingly.


Politics Prato program

The Politics Prato Program will not be offered in 2012.
