Dr Terry Macdonald researches within the field of normative international political theory (at the intersection of the traditional fields of International Relations and normative Political Theory). Specific research interests include:
• Global democracy and democratisation
• Global justice and political legitimacy
• The role of non-state actors (NGOs and Corporations) in global politics
• Changing political conceptions of ‘public’ and ‘private’ (powers, roles, and responsibilities) in the context of globalization
• Liberal and democratic political thought
In 2008 Dr Macdonald will teach the following units:
• INT2040, INT3040 – Globalization and its Discontents
• PLM4520, PLM5520 – Perspectives on World Politics
• ITM4030, ITM5030 – Ethics in World Politics
Biography
Dr Macdonald obtained both M.Phil and D.Phil degrees in International Relations from Oxford University (Nuffield College). She was subsequently employed as a Research Fellow and Lecturer in Politics at Oxford University (Merton College), teaching courses in Political Theory and International Relations, before moving to Monash University in 2007.Publications
