Renaissance Studies
Renaissance studies have been a recognized strength of the School of Historical Studies (formerly the History Department ) since the founding of Monash. The study of Renaissance Florence in particular is a field which has attracted a large undergraduate following, and has produced several generations of scholars with considerable reputations. Monash teaches a unit on Renaissance Florence both in Clayton and in Florence.
The School of Historical Studies offers a concentration of expertise amongst its staff that is reflected in, amongst other things, the Masters of Renaissance Studies and the courses offered in Italy itself, including 'The Renaissance in Florence'. The School also offers support to schools where the Italian Renaissance is taught as a unit of study.
